Blow

Director: Ted Demme

Stars: Johnny Depp ( George Jung ), Penelope Cruz ( Mirtha Jung ), Franka Potente ( Barbara Buckley )

This movie is about a guy by the name of George Jung that started off as a marijuana dealer then moved up into the cocaine game.

My opinion on this movie is that I really like it because its about a guy thats trying to come up from rags to riches. Yes I think it did a good job on turning a real life situation into a entertaining story. The insight it gave was that you take a lot of risks to become rich from doing illegal things, but in the end you will always be stuck in the game.

The movie selena is about a hispanic singer and her life growing up with her family singing and traveling in a band called selena de los dinos. then she grows up and finds herself with a very sucessful solo career. i think the creators of selena did a very good job of creating the real feeling by letting you see the conflict and the drama that being a star can create.i personally love this movie because the music in this movie is beautiful and it made me feel how she was feeling.

Rudy

The movie Rudy is about a mentally challenged boy who pushes around a shopping cart all day and bangs his radio and watches the football players play football.

The Fighter

The Pursuit Of Happyness

This movie is about a guy who tries to make it in life. To support him and his family. His wife leaves him and he goes out and hustles to try to make a living for him and his son. He became homeless .

I like this movie. It makes you feel how real life is hard. I feel like they did a good job on this movie.

Pursuit of Happyness

I am doing the movie Pursuit of Happyness. It is based on a man named Christopher Gardner. He invests all of his money in these "bone density scanner". He tries to sell these to make his life but learns that he will not be able to make this a future for him and his family. His wife leaves him and takes his son and he ends up stuggleing for a while. He then finds a job as a stockbroker and lives a good life after that.

This movie is like Citizen Kane because he is in the same position in a way. Kane is a poor little boy that finds his way into becoming rich and so does Christopher Gardner. In the end one of them enjoy the fame and one doesnt.

Soloist

Joe Wright ( Director)
Susannah Grant ( screen writer) Gary Foster (Producer)

is about a kid that grew up and he loved this insturment that couldn't leave school he also had a mental disorder. And it led him to be a homeless guy on the street but he still had the talent to play the insturment he could play in a orchestra but he was left on his own. (Robert downey jr) befriends him and looks to help him out and take him from the streets into the music buisness.

My opoion is that it shows how one person can impact someones life with hard work and i think they did a good job on capturing the importance of making a change in someones life and not give up on the person your trying to help. I also think that they did capture what it would be like for a homeless person.

"Catch Me If You Can"

Actor's: Mercdes Ruehl , JD Pardo and Ronde Reynoldson
Director:Angniezka Hollan
Writer:Shelly Evans

This movie is based on a true story about Gewn Araujo was a transgender boy who fought a struggle to be accpected for who he is . Things turned the wrong way and it's hard for him to go on.

I really had a weak spot for this story because it really hurt me that this can actually happen. I feel like no matter who you are you should be accpeted and loved for who you are.

The Blind Side

The Blind Side is about Micheal Oher a boy that is homeless and lives in the ghetto and is adopted by a higher class family and they put him into school and football and becomes number one draft pick for the NFL. The characters that cast in the crew are:

Quinton Aaron as Micheal Oher

Tim Mcgraw as Sean Tuohy

Sandra Bullock as Leigh Anne Tuohy

This is a really good movie to me I feel like i could relate to the movie even though I am not a football player it is actually something that could happen. I recommend this to other people.

Titanic !

Titanic
James Cameron
The Titanic is a Story about a big rich boat that people thought would never sink . Rose is a rich girl who is on the boat with her family . And Jack is on the boat because he won a ticket on . They meet and fall inlove !
This is related to the real titanic because there was actually a boat called the titanic , and it did hit a ice berg and sink . But the love story in the movie was made up to make it seem more interesting .

antwone fisher

this movie was based on the autobiographical book "finding fish".

La Vie en Rose

La Vie en Rose (2007)
Genre: Biography
Directed by Oliver Dahan
Written by Oliver Dahan and Isabelle Sobelman
Starring: Marion Cotillard, Sylvie Testud, Pascal Greggory

La Vie en Rose depicts the entire life of famous french singer Edith Piaf (played by Marion Cotillard) opening with the scene of her mother, Anetta, singing for money. Edith soon is left in the care of various dysfunctional guardians, including her father, grandmother, and various prostitutes. Her contortionist father, while performing in the streets, begs Edith to "do something" in the hopes of earning more money. She starts singing and, as it will all her life, her voice moves everyone who hears it.

This movie does not embellish the story of the "Little Sparrow" who grew up in a brothel and who had countless lovers. Until the very end, this non-chronological interpretation includes every major fight Piaf had, every romance and heartbreak. It captured the personality, as well as the time period, perfectly. Using the most famous of her songs to tell the tale, it shows the audience a piece of her not many had been aware of: despite all of her mistakes, Edith Piaf was a woman who regretted nothing.

Citizen Kane (1941)

Citizen Kane (1941)
Directed by: Orson Welles
Written by: Herman J. Mankiewicz & Orson Welles
Starring: Orson Welles & Joseph Cotten
Genre: Biopic

Your assignment: First, post three comments (meaningful and including your initials) on other people's romance movie blog posts. Then, write a two-paragraph blog post about a movie you've seen outside of class that is based on the life of a real person and/or real events.

Paragraph 1 should describe the plot of the film, including the characters, up until the inciting incident (no spoilers!). For instance: Citizen Kane tells the story of wealthy businessman Charles Foster Kane, based on the true life rise and fall of William Randolph Hearst, a newspaper tycoon from the 1930s. When a group of journalists find out Kane's last word before he died was "Rosebud", they set out to find what it means, and this is how we're told about the main character's life: through interviews with friends and co-workers. Then, using flashbacks and flash-forwards, we get to see how Kane grew up, became wealthy, ran for office, and broke the hearts of more than a couple women and colleagues.

Paragraph 2 should include your opinion of the film and answer the questions: Did it do a good job of turning real life into an entertaining and meaningful story? How or how not? What insight was given about that person's life or the event's impact on people? What was universal about it? For instance: I think Citizen Kane has been named one of the most important and best movies of all time because of the way it portrays someone who attains power without knowing properly how to use it. Reportedly William Randolph Hearst tried to stop this film's release; no one knows why for sure but one can guess it probably cut too close to home. It turns a story about a bloated old rich white guy into something I think everyone can relate to, which is that no one really knows how to wield power when they have it. This corruption can lead to hurting those you love because your ego becomes so huge. Kane unfortunately didn't realize this until it was too late and all he had left at the end was his memory of the sled "Rosebud", an object from the childhood he can never go back to and start all over again from.

P.S. Don't forget a title, picture, initials in the 'Labels' section, and all the necessary film info (year, director, writer, stars, and genre) from imdb.com.
