The story of Allie and Noah is read by Duke to a female patient in a modern day nursing home. The story he reads from his notebook takes place in the 1940's, before and after World Wall ll. A story of two teenagers falling in love, planning to stay with each other for the rest of their lives. When Allie's parents find out Noah's social and economic status they refuse to let her keep seeing him and force her to move to New York and attend collage there. Allie is forced to leave without saying goodbye, which makes Noah believe they are in bad terms. The movie shows them trying to restart their lives after letting the one true love get away.
The Notebook touches close to home. You never really forget your one true love. Allie and Noah loved each other through the very end. The struggles and obstacles Allie and Noah go through makes us believe in love each and every time we see it. The emotion brought to us by Rachael McAdam, every tear and smile, makes us fall in love with their story and remember our very own.
