The Brave One (2007)

Jodie Foster stars as Erica Bain, a middle aged woman who loved her dog and boyfriend. Tragedy strikes Erica during a walk in the park with her boyfriend and dog. A several thugish men with a camera decide to rough up the couple and steal her dog. After recovering for the incident Erica decides to take the law in her own hands when the criminals didn't get caught and seeks revenge.

Jodie Foster also stars in Freaky Friday(1976), The Accused(1988), and The Silence of the Lambs(1991) along with many other popular movies.

I enjoyed this film, it had several suspenseful parts where it left you think what will happen next. It also had a greater meaning behind it as love for her dead boyfriend led her to her revenge.

I would recomend this movie to other because of the interesting story and the well done acting.
Directed by Neil Jordan

STATE PROPERTY(2002)

Genre: Drama,Crime,Action

Director:Abdul Malikk Abbott

Released date:

The inciting incident was when he main charater (Beanie) is broke and wants the American dream he see's no other way to find it but to take it. He takes it by getting a connection to a big time drug dealer to put him in the game of drugs and getting a loyal crew to work for him so that he could move up and if you don't want to be down with him then you have lay down meaning they are going to kill you.

Beanie played in the sequence of State Property 2.The movie is more about the struggles of the drug game and how everything is on the line.

I liked the movie just because of the method acting. the acting was so natrual and realistic of things that do go down or could go down in the lower income housing neighborhoods. Also I liked the way the inciting incident started off the movie where it had you wanting to know more about the movie and the charaters.

The God Father

The movie begins with the Don ( Vito Corleone ) at his daughters wedding. His son just came back from the war but doesn't want anything to do with the family business. Micheal his son thinks nothing goods comes from the mob. Don lives life like its still the old days, things are changing. A new family is coming up, The Coreone Family. The Coreone don't have a problem with the new way things are working. They are heavy in drug crafting. The Dons fading old world values and the new way things are working will demand a terrible price.
The main charters are Marlon Brando ( Don ) Al Pacio ( Micheal ) James Caan ( Sonny ) and John Marley ( Jack ).
The Don for me had the most alienation effect only because he alwas had a really calm veiw on everything. Never really changed up his view about anything, very strong hearted.
The Godfather and Goodfellas have loads in common. One they both have respect for people in the family and live by there values. Another is they are both all for the money.

Casino

Two bestfriend played by Robert De Nero & Joe Pesci are involved in the casino buisness. They both want to have the money & the power Joe Pesci wants to steal it while Robert De Nero wants to earn it. While they both are trying to go their seperate ways Robert's wife starts to have an affair with Joe Pesci causing more drama.

Robert De Nero & Joe Pesci also star in the movie GoodFellas where both play a role just like the ones in Casino. They both want money & the power, Joe is in the mafia, & in the end of Casino Joe ends up getting killed just like GoodFellas.

Casino is a great movie in my opinion. It has a good plot, alot of crime action, suspense, and a little romance. Another reason why it's so good is because the actors in that movie are method actors, except for Robert's wife. By being method actors it made the movie better. Because those actors could be everyday people that you see, & that made it realistic and down to earth.

If you liked GoodFellas or any crime drama movies i would recommend Casino, because it's a great movie it has alot of action, alot of drama, & it keeps you thinking.

Goodfellas

The plot tease of Goodfellas is Henry's mother wants him to get a job so Henry goes looking for one. He goes to a street cornor in his neighborhood and talks to some mobsters. They soon accept him and he is in there crew.

Released September 19th, 1990

Director: Martin Scorsese

Writer: Nicholas Pileggi

Starring: Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci and Lorraine Bracco

I thought this movie was a very good film. The acting was well done all around athough at times alienating a bit much. The plot was very interesting and there was plenty of action. I never was bored with this movie and i would like to see more films of this quality.

I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes crime oriented action films. It includeds a little bit of everything from family problems to drug problems to problems with hiding dead bodies... and sometimes trying to not end up like the other guy.

Four Brothers

*plot tease- the plot tease in Four Brothers was the boys mother gets killed by a gangster and they all have to come together to bury their mother after a few years of being apart and them doing their own things. They go on a hunt to find their mothers killer and kill everyone who was involved in her murder.

*cast and crew backtrack- Mark Wahlberg and Tyrese Gibson stared in many other crime dramas like Tyrese Gibson in Waist deep where his son gets kidnapped and he goes lookin for him. Lovely bones (Mark Wahlberg) was about Marks characters daughter get murdered and he is investigating her murder and trying to find her killer.

*opinion focus- Mark Wahlberg was a antihero in Four Brothers because he did some bad things but he was also doing something good like getting revenge for his mother. He also was using the alienation effect in alot of the scenes. Garrett Hedlund's character was a very method actor.

(Jhon Singleton)

*final thought- i would recommend this movie to anyone i see 100% it was a really great movie so was Good Fellas i had a really fun time watching it both movies had a lot of verisimilitude thats what made them so great

The Godfather (1972)

The main character of the movie is Al Pacino as Michael, Don Vito Corleone's son. The secondary characters of this film that are more of major characters are Don Vito Corleone played by Marlon Brando, and Santino Corleone played by James Cann. There are many more actors and actresses in the movie but there are just to many to list. The inciting incident of the movie is when the Godfather turns down another dons offering to move drugs into the city for a cut of the money, the other don orders hit men to take him out and he barely survives which causes his son Michael, who wanted to be on the straight and narrow path, to retaliate for his family.

A supporting actress in this film is Kay Adams Corleone played by Diane Keaton (she marries Michael Corleone), screenwriters are Mario Puzo and Francis Ford Coppola. The director of the film is Francis Ford Coppola. This differed for him from Godfather part 2 which he helped produce.

For one of the Characters, Don Vito Corleone, he seemed like he was doing a lot of method acting in the film. He makes you believe he really is the head of the family and makes you think that you would not want to be on his bad side. but he does get a little over the edge in the beginning and different parts of the movie.

I would recommend seeing this movie, its a classic and everyones gotta see the Godfather eventually. It definately reminds me of the movie Goodfellas, its practically about the same thing just from a made mans perspective instead of just a worker in the mafia's point of view. I was reminded of the Godfather after watching the film Goodfellas because there was just so much violence in both of the movies its practically what its about.

director: Francis Ford Copolla

Donnie Brasco (1997)

Director: Mike Newell
In the movie Donnie Brasco, Johnny Depp plays the role of Joe Pistone, an undercover FBI agent working in a mafia family in New York, Joe Pistone uses the name Donnie Brasco as a cover so the mafia don't find out who he really is. While undercover he finds out that it's easier for him to relate to his mafia family than his family back home.
The plot tease for Donnie Brasco is when Joe meets up with Benjamin "Lefty" Ruggiero who is played by Al Pacino and Lefty brings him to meet Sonny Black, a capo, and Nicky Santora, an underboss.
The role that Johnny Depp plays in this movie is somewhat similar to the role he played in the 2009 movie Public Enemies because he played a member of the mafia, although he wasn't undercover in that movie he still killed people and had "made men" as friends.
I really like the movie Donnie Brasco because I love mafia movies, I also like Johnny Depp when his style of acting is more method than alienation like his role in the Willa Wonka remake.
I would recommend this movie to any one who likes crime drama movies, especially those that involve the mafia.

bad boys 2 2003

Two narcotic Miami police officers are analyzing the continuity flow of Ecstasy into their city. along the way the find out detective Marcus Burnett younger sister Syd is working a case to bust the dealers. Mike Lowry and his partner Marcus is scrutinizing the whole case for her safety and to take the dealers off the street.
Marcus Burnett was being played by Martin Lawrence and Mike Lowry was played by Will Smith.
Martin Lawrence also played in Big Momma's House as a FBI agent trying to take down a fugitive that was trying to come get his ex wife and his son so they can go on the run with him.
I think this made me more interested in the chose of his characters in the movies that he picked to do, this probably made him look more of a better actor and in my opinion one of the elite actor in this era.
I think both actors were in more of a since of a method actor because they played their role like a cop that's trying to do it's job by taking out the bad guys. It made the movie more interesting that they both played a metho acting technique instead of alienation effect.

Polo.

State Property

Director: Abdul Malik
State Property is about Beans (played by Rapper Beanie Sigel) trying to make money a quick way because where he lives it's not that's much opportunity for people. He starts his own mafia type crew with people including Bleek (played by rapper Memphis Bleek). They start a drug trafficking business and run into completion when Boss Dame (played by Damon Dash) finds out they are selling drugs on his turf.

The actors in this movie are mostly Rocafella Records music artist. This was Rapper Beanie Singels second movie he played the same type of aggressive person but he was less comical in this movie. This was Damon Dash's first movie he ever did. The writer/Director Abdul Malik Abbott work on this movie was different because he usually did music videos and sitcoms so this was very different from what he does.

I liked this movie because it was low budget but you forgot about all of that when you watch it. The acting was better then you would think. The rappers did a great job acting and they used the alienation effect with Beans in the right parts of the movie and they still made you believe them. I liked how they put real situations that people go through with money and problem. This movie had a great overall story line, plot and acting so I give it an A.

GoodFellas (1990)

Director: Martin Scorsese

For your blog post on a movie that GoodFellas reminds you of, write a film review based on the four parts mentioned in class:

1) PLOT TEASE...describe the inciting incident (what kick starts the events of the film) and main characters of the film (identifying which actor plays who).

2) CAST AND CREW BACKTRACK...describe what people might know 1-2 actors/screenwriters/directors from and how the film differs from their previous work (look up this info on IMDb.com if you need to).

3) OPINION FOCUS...without giving away twists or endings, offer a specific opinion you have on the film, based on a vocab word you haven't used in a post yet. (EXAMPLE FOR THIS WEEK: did the actors use method acting or the alienation effect and how did this affect how much you liked/disliked the film?)

4) FINAL THOUGHT...ultimately, would you recommend this film and why or why not? Does it remind you of the film we watched in class? How or how not?
