After a Harvard University student gets dumped by his girlfriend he decides to write a mean blog post all about her. This thought made him come up with an on-campus website that would rate girls based on looks. The Social Network tells the story of Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of one of the largest social networking sites online. After hacking Harvard's system and finding out this is leading him to success he decides to expand and branch out his website all over the country. The success he gains with his website, The Facebook, leads him to crazy parties, cocaine incidents, and a fight with co-founder and best friend Eduardo Saverin. It also leads to two million dollar lawsuits.
I think The Social Network got way more attention the it really should. I believe the reason was that by the time the film was out many people had a Facebook account. People wanted to know how this big social phenomena started. It is said that the idea behind the story is indeed true but it has some exaggerations. Most characters, like Sean Parker, were made to look like assholes.
